Online & Technology – Planet Alliance

Planet Organic founder Renée Elliott opened her first fully organic grocery store in 1995 to provide a refreshing alternative to mainstream supermarkets.

As most food production had become increasingly industrialised, it was her mission to bring back food that consumers can trust by stocking a full range of fresh, organic foods within an environment that brought a sense of discovery and adventure.

Since then, a lot has changed in the retail industry. As part of a natural movement to shopping online, consumers began to expect next-day delivery, free delivery, delivery at convenient pickup locations and now same-day delivery within precise timeslots. This is an expectation that has spread across varying types of goods from furniture and electricals and now to perishable foods and fresh groceries.

In fact, a recent study by OC&C Strategy Consultants found that in the last two years the number of shoppers opting for next-day delivery grew by 50%, while those willing to wait between three and five days fell by 10%. It also predicted that home delivery and click-and-collect sales will double in the next 10 years, and that by 2025, 40% of all non-food sales in the UK will be made online.

Fast and flexible

As these consumer demands for quicker and more flexible delivery options have grown, we at Planet Organic have continually innovated our delivery offering to remain ahead of the curve while staying true to our values. This has meant ensuring that our delivery service not only matches our customers’ needs, but that the freshness and range available for delivery equals that that can be found in-store and also that our service is carbon-neutral to counterbalance residual emissions.

We originally launched our own delivery service over a decade ago and today we continue to facilitate the majority of deliveries ourselves, handling all orders placed directly on our website. We have the ability to deliver goods next day across the UK, with one-hour delivery slots in London and free flexi-slots for orders over the value of £50. We also offer EU and International shipping options.
